Located just a couple blocks back from Playa Zipolite on Oaxaca’s stunning Pacific coast, this gay-owned, clothing-optional boutique hotel blends playful energy with thoughtful design. This is a proudly gay-owned and operated hotel where the atmosphere feels relaxed, intimate, and welcoming from the moment you arrive. It manages to be lively without feeling chaotic, playful without trying too hard, and elevated while still preserving the bohemian character that defines Zipolite.
Highlights of the property include:
- Clothing-optional pool and rooftop
- Full-service restaurant and bar onsite
- Massage services available by reservation
- Complimentary WiFi and parking
- Backup generator and filtered water system
- Multilingual staff speaking English, French, and Spanish
Together, these details create a stay that feels both easy and well thought out — something that stands out in a beach town known for its laid-back, barefoot lifestyle.
Location: Close to the Beach, Town, and Gay Nightlife
In a small beach town like Zipolite, location can shape your entire stay — and Men Zipolite strikes an ideal balance.
The hotel is just a short walk from Playa Zipolite, making it easy for early-morning beach walks or spontaneous ocean dips, while still feeling slightly removed from the sand for extra privacy and quiet at night.
It’s also about a 10-minute walk to Playa del Amor, the secluded cove at the far east end of the beach that has become the must-visit sunset spot for gay travelers in Zipolite.
You’re also steps from La Máxima, the lively gay drag bar right on the beach, which makes late nights very tempting.
To reach the main town center, you can pass through a small mangrove path at the end of the street — completely safe and the quickest route, taking less than three minutes. Alternatively, you can walk along the road or the beach if you prefer a more scenic approach.
Once you’re in town, everything you need is nearby:
- Restaurants
- Shops
- Pharmacies
- Gyms
- Beach clubs
If it’s your first time in Zipolite, this location makes it easy to enjoy both the beach and the social side of town without needing to go far.
Facilities: Pool, Restaurant, Relaxation, and Thoughtful Extras
For a boutique hotel with just 14 rooms, Men Zipolite offers an impressive range of facilities.
At the center of it all is the ground-floor pool, located beside the restaurant and bar and surrounded by guest rooms and sun loungers. It naturally becomes the hub of the hotel during the day — a place where guests cool off, relax, and easily strike up conversations.
Daily happy hour keeps the energy lively, and the Friday pool party with DJs and drink specials draws a particularly fun crowd.
Upstairs, the rooftop offers a quieter space. By day it’s perfect for sunbathing, reading, or morning yoga, while in the evenings it becomes a relaxed gathering spot for sunset views and casual conversations (or more!) with fellow travelers.
The hotel also offers massage services by reservation, a great way to unwind after a beach day or reset before heading out for the evening.
A few practical touches stand out as well: the filtered water system, the backup generator for occasional power outages, and a multilingual team that keeps everything running smoothly for guests.
Rooms: Comfortable, Playful, and Designed for Different Travel Styles
The accommodations at Men Zipolite reflect the same balance as the rest of the hotel and are thoughtfully designed for the kind of travelers who come to Zipolite.
Whether you’re visiting as a couple, traveling with friends, or arriving solo and hoping to meet new people, the hotel offers a few different room styles to suit different travel styles.
Standard Rooms
The standard rooms sit just steps from the pool and offer a bright, airy feel with plenty of natural light.
Inside, you’ll find everything needed for a comfortable stay in Zipolite:
- Air conditioning
- Open ensuite shower
- Mini fridge
- Smart TV
- Work desk
- Safe
The design feels clean and modern while still keeping that relaxed beach-town character. Being close to the pool also makes it easy to move between your room and the heart of the property throughout the day.
Suites + Rooms for Groups
Men Zipolite also offers two larger suites and one room with two double beds.
The suites provide extra space along with a pull-out sofa, allowing them to comfortably accommodate up to four guests.
The room with two double beds offers a similar setup for small groups who want to stay together while still enjoying the same stylish design found throughout the property.
The Chocolate Box
One of the most unique accommodations at the hotel is The Chocolate Box, a hostel-style shared room designed for solo travelers and more adventurous guests.
This space features 12 bunk-style beds with individual lockers, along with air conditioning — something that’s especially appreciated in Zipolite’s tropical climate.
The ensuite bathroom includes an open double shower, and the setup makes it easy to meet other travelers while still having a secure place to store your belongings.
For guests visiting Zipolite solo or looking to connect with other travelers, it’s a fun and affordable option.
Food & Drink: Cochon Rose Is a Standout
One of the best surprises at Men Zipolite is the quality of the dining.
The onsite restaurant and bar, Cochon Rose, serves French-Mediterranean cuisine with a Mexican twist — and it quickly became one of our favorites.
The restaurant is open from 8am to 9:30pm, making it convenient for everything from breakfast to lunch poolside to a full dinner after sunset.
At dinner, we noticed the dining room filled quickly after 7pm, so reservations are a good idea. Our meal began with a complimentary pork pâté amuse-bouche with mustard, which packed a bold burst of flavor. We followed that with the mountain salad and chicken Milanese, both beautifully plated and generous in portion.
The ingredients felt especially fresh — honestly some of the crispest lettuce we’ve had anywhere in Zipolite.
Overall Experience: A Natural Fit for Zipolite

The result is a stay that feels relaxed, welcoming, and just a little playful — exactly the kind of atmosphere many travelers come here looking for.
Add in the convenient location near the beach, the lively pool area, and the standout dining at Cochon Rose, and it’s easy to see why this property has quickly become one of the most talked-about new hotels in Zipolite.
