By Air
Most travelers arrive via one of two airports:
Huatulco International Airport (HUX) – About 1 hour from Zipolite on windy mountain roads. Best for quick and budget-friendly transfers. Keep in mind road construction can cause occasional delays.
Puerto Escondido International Airport (PXM) – About 1 hour 15 minutes away from Zipolite. A slightly longer but smoother drive with fewer winding roads — a better option if you get motion sickness.
We recommend flying into HUX whenever possible, as it's typically cheaper and closer.
Huatulco Airport to Zipolite
Taxi – Official taxis are available outside the airport, but prices can be high.
Local taxi hack (best value) – Exit the airport via the pedestrian walkway and grab a taxi across the street near the Pemex station. Rates are typically around 1200 MXN ($65–70 USD) — significantly cheaper than official taxis.
From Oaxaca City

By air (fastest): Aerotucán offers small regional flights to Huatulco or Puerto Escondido (about 30 minutes).
By shared van (budget option): Lineas Unidas runs minivans from Oaxaca City. The journey takes 3–4 hours and drops you near the main road within walking distance of town.
