Playa del Amor – Best Gay Beach in Oaxaca

Located an easy climb over the rock stairway on the far east side of Playa Zipolite, you will find this intimate gay paradise. The small beach is protected by rocks and divided by a large rock island. There are two palapas run by super friendly local teams who organize chairs and umbrellas for you as well as serve refreshing cold drinks and coconuts.


Playa del Amor, or Love Beach, attracts everyone who visits Zipolite with its stunning natural beauty. It’s also a welcoming place for nudists. The beach is rather quiet and peaceful during the day, but at sunset, this beach comes alive. With it’s perfect positioning for sunset, Playa del Amor becomes an extremely popular place to watch the day end.


With twilight comes a flurry of activity with final sunset photos and more and more gay men making their way to Playa del Amor to enjoy a nude swim and to mingle. We are even fashionably late for sunset it seems!


Nevertheless, after sunset, the music is turned up, candles are brought out, and the drinks and conversations flow. Often, you will find a performance or two, including a naked DJ or a naked fire show on a good night! Now you begin to see why so many people arrive "late."
