Rocks to Nudist Section of Elia Beach, Mykonos, Greece
Elia Beach

10. Best Gay Nude Beach in Greece: Elia Beach, Mykonos

Why We Love It: Elia Beach is Mykonos’ most famous nudist-friendly spot, with golden sand, turquoise water, and a lively gay scene. Unlike the more touristy Paradise and Super Paradise Beaches, this spot has a relaxed, fun-loving crowd.

What to Expect: Head past the sun loungers to the right marked by a rainbow flag and over the rocks for the dedicated gay nudist section. It’s a mix of locals, international travelers, and some of the sexiest guys in Mykonos.

Our Experience: One of our favorite memories? Floating in the Aegean Sea with new friends while sipping on Greek wine. The vibes here are immaculate!

🌟 Pro tip – The water taxi from Super Paradise Beach is the most scenic way to arrive! If you're driving, there's plenty of parking.

Werdinsel FKK - Nudist Beach, Zurich, Switzerland
Werdinsel FKK Beach

9. Best Gay Nude Beach in Switzerland: Werdinsel, Zurich

Why We Love It: Werdinsel is a hidden gem in Zurich, offering a laid-back, naturist-friendly space along the Limmat River. It’s a social hub for the local gay community, with a welcoming vibe, plenty of space to spread out, and a scenic riverside setting.

What to Expect: The FKK (naturist) section is at the northwestern tip of the island, where you'll find sunbathers, swimmers, and a friendly crowd of locals and travelers. Unlike crowded beach destinations, Werdinsel offers a more relaxed atmosphere, perfect for unwinding in nature. Facilities and shaded picnic tables are available in the textile area, making it easy to grab a snack or a cold beer.

Our Experience: Even in late September, the island was buzzing with a fun, social crowd. We loved lounging by the river, meeting new friends, and cooling off in the crisp, clean water. ZĂŒrich may not be the first place you think of for a gay nude beach, but trust us—it’s worth the visit!

How to Find It: Google Maps link

🌟 Pro tip – Werdinsel is easily accessible from downtown Zurich by public transport. Take Tram 13 and enjoy the short walk to the island.

Boy Beach, Provincetown, Massachusetts, USA
Boy Beach

8. Best Gay Nude Beach in Massachusetts: Boy Beach, Provincetown

Why We Love It: Nestled within the stunning Cape Cod National Seashore, Boy Beach is Provincetown’s most secluded gay beach, offering a natural, clothing-optional escape. The remoteness adds to its charm, attracting a friendly and adventurous crowd looking to enjoy the sun, sand, and sea—sans swimsuits.

What to Expect: Since it's not officially designated as a nude beach, discretion is key, but its isolation makes it a well-known naturist-friendly spot. Reaching Boy Beach requires a scenic bike ride followed by a walk through the dunes and wetlands. There are no facilities, so bring everything you need—water, snacks, sunblock, and a towel.

Our Experience: The journey to Boy Beach is half the adventure! We loved the scenic bike ride through the dunes and the feeling of total escape once we reached the sand. It’s the perfect spot to soak up the sun, take a skinny dip, and meet fellow travelers in one of the gayest and most welcoming towns in the U.S. For more on Provincetown, check out our Gay Travel Guide to Provincetown.

How to Find It: Google Maps link

🌟 Pro tip – The tides can rise quickly, so check tide charts before heading out. The best way to get there is to bike to the first rack on 6A (Province Lands Road) and follow the sandy path through the marsh. Look for the dunes to your left, where the gay crowd gathers.

Obelisk Beach, Sydney, Australia
Obelisk Beach

7. Best Gay Nude Beach in Sydney: Obelisk

Why We Love It: With incredible views of Sydney Harbour and a fun-loving, social crowd, Obelisk Beach is one of the best gay nude beaches in Australia. It’s a compact, clothing-optional spot with a relaxed vibe, making it a must-visit for naturists and sun-seekers alike.

What to Expect: A small, secluded stretch of sand perfect for a refreshing dip. While officially an FKK (nudist) beach, it’s particularly popular with gay visitors. There are no facilities, so bring your own drinks, snacks, and sun protection. Arrive early to claim a prime spot!

Our Experience: We loved the mix of locals and travelers enjoying the sun and sea. Trai’s birthday made it extra special—we started the day at Obelisk and wrapped it up with koalas and stunning city views at the zoo before a scenic ferry ride back to Circular Quay.

How to Find It: Google Maps link

🌟 Pro tip – If you’re driving, there’s parking near the trailhead. Otherwise, it’s an adventure via rideshare, ferry, or bus from Sydney’s city center. For an epic day, combine your beach visit with a trip to Taronga Zoo—especially if it’s your birthday, as they offer $1 AUD admission!

6. Best Gay Nude Beach in Canada: Hanlan's Point, Toronto

Why We Love It: Hanlan’s Point Beach is one of the few officially recognized nude beaches in Canada and a historic queer space. With stunning views of Toronto’s skyline and a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere, it’s a must-visit for LGBTQ+ sunbathers and beach lovers.

What to Expect: A spacious sandy beach with a mix of singles, couples, and friend groups soaking up the summer sun. The gay crowd typically gathers on the right side near Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. Follow the well-marked trail and rainbow flags from the ferry dock to find your spot.

Our Experience: The ferry ride itself is a highlight, offering breathtaking views of Toronto’s skyline. We loved the community vibe, warm summer sun, and the thoughtful signage reminding everyone to respect this historic queer space. It’s the perfect city escape with a touch of adventure!

Black’s Beach

4. Best Gay Nude Beach in the United States: Black's Beach, San Diego

Why We Love It: Black’s Beach isn’t just the best gay nude beach in California—it’s the most expansive and stunning one in the entire U.S. This legendary spot draws a diverse and vibrant LGBTQ+ crowd, all set against dramatic cliffs and the sparkling Pacific Ocean.

What to Expect: A bit of a hike down from the parking area, but once you arrive, you’ll find a welcoming gay section marked by rainbow flags. There’s plenty of space to spread out, socialize, or simply soak up the California sun in peace. The waves here are also great for body surfing!

Our Experience: The hike down felt like part of the adventure, and the reward was a lively, sun-kissed scene where we made instant new friends. Watching the sunset over the Pacific from this iconic nude beach? Absolutely unforgettable!

How to Find It: Google Maps link

🌟 Pro tip – If you're staying in San Diego’s Gaslamp District on a budget, take the blue line trolley to UC San Diego, then walk about 30 minutes to the trailhead. Otherwise, renting a car or taking a ride share from Hillcrest (San Diego’s gayborhood) makes for an easier journey.

Sandy Bay Beach, Cape Town, South Africa
Sandy Bay Beach

3. Best Gay Nude Beach in South Africa: Sandy Bay, Cape Town

Why We Love It: Sandy Bay is easily one of the most breathtaking gay nude beaches in the world. Nestled between rugged cliffs and the Atlantic Ocean, this remote paradise offers a pristine, clothing-optional escape just outside of Cape Town. It’s also one of the few pet-friendly nude beaches on our list!

What to Expect: A scenic 20-minute hike from the parking area leads you to a sparklingly clean beach with a fun, friendly, and attractive crowd. It’s the perfect size—not too big like Black’s Beach in San Diego, yet not as small as Obelisk in Sydney. Just be prepared for the uphill trek back!

Our Experience: From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the stunning mountain and ocean views. We spent the day lounging with new friends, enjoying the sun, and even playing with a few beach pups. Hands down, one of our favorite gay nude beaches in the world! For more on Cape Town, check out our Gay Travel Guide to Cape Town.

How to Find It: Google Maps link

🌟 Pro tip – The easiest way to get here from Cape Town’s De Waterkant gay village is by Uber. The ride takes under 30 minutes and cost us about $10 USD. Surprisingly, we only waited four minutes for our return trip!

Playa Del Amor Gay Beach, Zipolite, Oaxaca, Mexico
Playa del Amor

2. Best Gay Nude Beach in Mexico: Playa del Amor, Zipolite

Why We Love It: Zipolite is Mexico’s first and only legal nude beach, and Playa del Amor is its unofficial gay hotspot. Located at the far east end of the main beach, this secluded cove is known for its dreamy sunsets, relaxed vibe, and social atmosphere.

What to Expect: While Zipolite as a whole is clothing-optional and welcoming to everyone, Playa del Amor is where the LGBTQ+ community gathers, especially in the evenings. Expect a friendly crowd, cold beers from the small beach bar, and spontaneous fire performances after dark.

Whether you’re up for a nude swim, a late-night bonfire, or just soaking in the vibes, Playa del Amor is pure magic. For more on Zipolite, check out our Gay Travel Guide to Zipolite.

What to Expect: You’ll find a lively mix of locals and international travelers soaking up the Mediterranean sun, with beach loungers for rent and a cafĂ© just above the sand. The infamous cave and nearby “magic forest” offer a little extra intrigue for those feeling adventurous.
