Hotel Calipolis Sitges: Stylish LGBTQ+ Stay Near Gay Beach (2025)
Overview
Situated along the sun-soaked Catalan coast, Sitges is one of Spain’s most welcoming gay destinations—and Hotel Calipolis is a prime base for exploring it all. We recently spent a long weekend here and were impressed by the hotel’s modern design, unbeatable location, and welcoming vibe for LGBTQ+ travelers.
With panoramic Mediterranean views, a laid-back atmosphere, and comfortable accommodations, it’s no wonder Hotel Calipolis remains one of the most popular stays in Sitges. Whether you’re here to relax, party, or soak up some culture, this hotel puts you in the heart of the action while offering a peaceful retreat at night.

Location
Hotel Calipolis enjoys one of the best beachfront locations in Sitges—right on the Passeig Marítim and just steps from Platja de la Bassa Rodona, the town’s main gay beach.
Across the street, you’ll find Picnic, a longtime favorite for Mediterranean bites and post-beach cocktails. The hotel is within a 5–10 minute walk of all the popular gay bars, clubs, and restaurants, including Parrots Pub, El Horno, and Bears Bar. Yet, it’s far enough removed from the party zone to enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep.
Facilities
While Sitges is all about the beach, Hotel Calipolis offers some solid facilities for guests who want to stay in and relax:
- Event Spaces – Business travelers will appreciate the meeting rooms and event facilities, which make the hotel popular for conferences and retreats.
- Outdoor Pool & Terrace – Though on the smaller side, the pool area is ideal for a dip or lounging with a cocktail.
- Infinity Tapas Bar – Located poolside, this breezy spot serves light fare and refreshing drinks throughout the day.
- Restaurant Mirador – The hotel’s main restaurant offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner with sweeping views of the Mediterranean.
- Fitness Room – Small but functional, it’s perfect for a quick workout before heading out to explore.
Accomodations
We booked a Standard Double Room with Partial Sea View—Room 429—and loved every minute of it. Here’s why:
- Spacious Layout – Bright, modern, and airy, with plenty of space to unwind.
- Private Terrace – Large and equipped with an adjustable solar awning, it offers views of both the beach and the town’s historic rooftops.
- Comfortable Bed – With individual reading lights, outlets on both sides, and plush linens, we slept like babies.
- Smart Features – Fast Wi-Fi, a flat-screen TV with internet channels, and chilled glasses in the minibar.
- Thoughtful Touches – Robes, slippers, complimentary bottled water, a large wardrobe with safe, and even a full-length mirror (perfect for outfit checks).
- Modern Bathroom – Rain shower, dual sinks, great lighting, and super-soft towels.
We booked our stay using Hotels.com, but we often compare with Booking since popular in Europe and then choose whichever option is the least expensive! We stayed during the shoulder season and snagged a great rate for just €128 per night!
Food & Drink
You can add breakfast at Restaurant Mirador when booking, and we definitely recommend it. The morning buffet features everything from eggs and bacon to pastries, fruit, cheeses, and even cava—because yes, you’re in Spain and you’re on vacation.
For casual daytime bites, Infinity Tapas Bar by the pool is a relaxed spot to grab a cocktail and share some tapas. Want to explore beyond the hotel? Sitges has amazing restaurants just steps away. A few of our favorites include:
- Montroig Café – Gay popular spot serving sandwiches, salads, and cocktails with a side of people watching.
- Villa Marina – Romantic atmosphere and fresh seafood.
Overall Experience
Hotel Calipolis made our gay Sitges getaway super special. The location can’t be beat, the rooms are thoughtfully designed, and the LGBTQ+ friendly vibe made us feel right at home. We saw plenty of gay couples, friend groups, and even families staying here.
Despite its size, the hotel never felt impersonal. From the front desk to the housekeeping staff, everyone was warm, welcoming, and professional. And waking up to those sea views? Absolute bliss.
Whether you’re visiting for Sitges Pride, Bears Week, or just want to escape for some sun and sangria, Hotel Calipolis delivers a stylish and central stay with all the comforts you need.
