Best Gay Bars and Clubs in Madrid (2025)

Andy and Trai at La Kama Cafe
Madrid doesn’t sleep—and neither will you! Spain’s capital is bold, sexy, and one of Europe’s hottest gay destinations. From mojitos in Chueca to men-only nudist nights in Lavapiés, Madrid’s nightlife scene is diverse, inclusive, and full of surprises. After spending a full month in the city, we’ve rounded up the best gay bars, clubs, drag shows, and events in Madrid so you can plan your perfect night out.

Why Madrid?

Madrid is not only Spain’s capital but also one of the gay capitals of Europe, home to the continent’s largest Pride celebration. Every July, over two million people flood the city for parades, concerts, drag shows, and street parties.

But nightlife here isn’t just about Pride—it’s thriving year-round. Dinner doesn’t even start until 9pm, and many clubs keep the party going until 6am (or later). Whether you want casual cocktails, a drag show, or an all-night dance floor, Madrid has something for everyone.

Chueca: The Heart of Gay Madrid

The Chueca neighborhood is Madrid’s gayborhood, filled with rainbow crosswalks, packed terraces, and buzzing bars. Here are our top picks:

  • La Kama Café – A local favorite for strong mojitos, cheeky bartenders, and air-conditioned comfort (a lifesaver in Madrid summers). The crowd is flirty, fun, and always welcoming.
  • D’Mystic – A cozy cocktail lounge just a few blocks away. Perfect for a pre-dinner Negroni or gin and tonic. Relaxed, friendly, and great for solo travelers.
  • Hot Bears Bar – Especially popular during Pride, this spot is known for its welcoming atmosphere and incredible deals. We scored 4 beers for €14 thanks to their 2-for-1 special. Bonus: prices stay the same even during Pride—no tourist upcharge. Plus there's a fun space downstairs if you're looking for adventure!
  • LL Bar – A must for drag lovers. Expect energetic performances in a tight but lively venue. It’s small, but the energy is big.
  • El 12 – One of our favorite all-around bars in Madrid. The front bar is perfect for mingling, while the back bar turns into a lively dance floor early in the night. Great every night of the week!

Beyond Chueca: Lavapiés & La Latina

Madrid’s gay nightlife stretches beyond Chueca. The edgier neighborhoods of Lavapiés and La Latina are home to some of the city’s spicier spots.

  • La Mae (Lavapiés) – A tiny cocktail bar (about 14 seats total) with premium drinks and friendly vibes. Great stop before heading to the nudist clubs nearby.
  • Attack (Lavapiés) – Men-only cruise club, busiest on Wednesdays and Sundays for nudist nights. Expect lockers, cabins, mazes, and lots of play spaces. Full entry details are on our Patreon.
  • The Ring (Lavapiés) – Another nudist club, best known for Friday nights. There’s a massive “ring” downstairs for voyeurs and exhibitionists, plus cabins and play areas. We loved the social vibe here.
  • Ciriaco Brown (La Latina) – Our go-to Sunday Funday closer. Stylish, sexy, and moody—like a private members club with fantastic cocktails and a fashionable local crowd. Cover is €10 with a drink included.

More Gay Bars and Clubs Worth Checking Out

  • Boyberry – Located in Malasaña, this is a great “first step” if you’re curious about cruise bars but not ready for a full-on nudist club. No cover, just buy a drink. The upstairs bar is social and friendly, while downstairs has cabins and group spaces.
  • Strong – A massive gay men’s dance club with the largest dark room in Europe. Free entry on Sundays from 6–7pm, and wild themed nights like Raw Strap (jockstraps, harnesses, sports gear, or simply nude). Definitely one for the adventurous. Full info on Patreon.

Gay Events & Pride in Madrid

Madrid Pride (MADO) in early July is the biggest LGBTQ+ event in Europe, with concerts, parties, and parades attracting millions. One of the most popular Pride events is Sandía at Fabrik—a wild dance party outside the city with drag shows, DJs, and even a giant paella.

🌟 Pro tip – Pre-book your return bus early, as tickets sell out fast. Alternatively, to save money, take the train to the last Zone A stop, then grab an Uber to Fabrik.

Where to Stay

  • Roommate Óscar Hotel – Right in the heart of Chueca with a fabulous rooftop pool. Perfect for stumbling home after a night out.
  • Axel Hotel– Playful, sexy, and part of the famous “hetero-friendly” chain. Great design and social vibes.
  • Dear Hotel Madrid – Our favorite rooftop pool in the city. Great location for Pride as well!
  • Luxury Picks – If you’re splurging, the Four Seasons and Mandarin Oriental Ritz both deliver 5-star luxury, cocktails, and incredible service near Retiro Park and Madrid’s museums.

Travel Tips for Madrid Nightlife

  • Pace yourself – Cocktails are strong and often free-pour. A gin & tonic might come in a fishbowl-sized glass. Two of those can end your night early!
  • Getting around – Madrid is walkable, especially around Chueca and Centro. For longer hops, grab a rechargeable Metro card with 10 rides—you can even share it with a friend.
  • Safety – Madrid feels very safe, even at night. Still, watch your belongings in crowded bars.
  • Travel insurance – Always a must when traveling abroad. We use SafetyWing for peace of mind.

Final Thoughts

Madrid is one of the most exciting gay cities in the world, with something for every taste—from drag shows and cocktail terraces to nudist nights and all-night clubs. Whether you’re here for Pride or just a weekend of tapas and good fun, Madrid’s nightlife is guaranteed to deliver.
