Best of Sitges - A Top Gay Travel Destination

Are you considering a gaycation in sunny Spain? If so, Sitges should definitely be on your list! Coming up are some of our favorite things about one of the gayest places in Europe!

First, let’s get the logistics out of the way. Sitges is situated just 40 minutes from Barcelona so it’s an easy day trip or add on to your holiday. When you exit the train station, just to left will be the tourist office and they are super helpful and English speaking. To the right of the train station is the Mercat de Sitges, which is our favorite market. It’s a great place to buy a soft-sided cooler and ice, picnic items, and beer and alcohol as well. It’s a great way to get high quality goods to save a little bit of money and enjoy your beach trip!

Speaking of beaches, us gays are spoiled for choice as there are three gay beaches in Sitges. We’ve actually dedicated a whole video and blog post to this topic! But since this is an article about the best of Sitges, our favorite beach is Playa del Muerto or Beach of the Dead, which is about 45-50 mins walk just south of the city.

After the beach, head to Parrots which is the most famous and our favorite gay bar in Sitges. It’s also a great spot to start your night out out as our British friends would say. The people watching can’t be beat, and the bar staff are fun and flirty.

If it’s an amazing sunset your after, head to the rocks on the other side of Balmins Beach further from the main church. We’ve come here multiple nights and had some real stunning sunsets! And it’s also on the way to our favorite restaurant right in the marina called Villa Marina Sitges. The food is just delicious, and for sure they have have the best pastas in town. They give you little side plates as a taster of what your dining partner ordered or even a dish from another table if you’re on your own! We loved this nice touch. Bottles of wine are also extraordinarily well priced.

If you’re still craving sweets, or gelato, a leisurely walk back to town along the seaside path is very romantic and then you can grab a gelato at Gelati Dino. The pistachio gelato was our favorite!

Finally, after all the excitement of the day, the best place to lay your head is at the Hotel MiM. We are obsessed with their grand staircase as well as their rooftop pool and Sky Bar! This luxury hotel is just a stone’s throw to the main gay beach behind Picnic Restaurant.

For the best budget option with an exceptional, included breakfast served in a nice garden, be sure to check out the Hotel Liberty. It’s well situated as well just across from the train station, and gay owners Thomas and Dieter will make you feel right at home.
